Voltus GoLive: A Successful Combination of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Azure Cloud, and OXID eShop in B2B and B2C E-Commerce

Problems with customer retention in B2B? Here's how to adapt your offering to changing customer demands!

Voltus is one of the leading online retailers for smart home systems, switch programs, and electrical materials. The GoLive of the new webshop included both visual and technical innovations. With the launch, both the new, modern corporate design and the integration of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Azure Cloud, and an OXID eShop went live. Through this technically demanding transformation, Voltus' online shop not only became more efficient but also significantly increased customer satisfaction with faster order processing and enhanced security.

As a successful online shop, wholesaler, and specialized consultant, Voltus makes complex electrical solutions easily accessible – from switches to heat pumps. With a wide range of products, the company has made a name for itself in the B2B and B2C e-commerce sectors. The strategic focus on quality and customer satisfaction has given Voltus a strong market position, which is supported by the new integration. The company is committed to bringing intelligent systems and sustainable technologies to a wider audience. For this reason, customers are personally advised by master electricians on the service hotline. The company also continuously invests in technology and sustainability.

The initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. At this point, we would like to sincerely thank Voltus for the partnership and the trust they have placed in our team.

Voltus – Powerful E-Commerce in the B2B and B2C Sectors

With a vast number of items and a variety of product categories, it is clear that one of the project's challenges lay in the complexity of the products. The different system components had to be seamlessly integrated so that they could communicate smoothly with each other. This required not only technical expertise but also reliable collaboration between the teams at Voltus, Modus Consult, and ESYON.

The integration of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Azure Cloud, and the OXID eShop has demonstrated how important it is to rely on innovative technologies and strong partnerships to succeed in a highly competitive market.

"Im B2B-Bereich ist die Kundenbindung keine Option, sondern eine Notwendigkeit. Langfristige Geschäftsbeziehungen sind der Schlüssel zum Erfolg, und diejenigen Unternehmen, die es schaffen, das Vertrauen ihrer Kunden zu gewinnen und zu halten, werden langfristig erfolgreich sein."

- Rolf Primus, Projektmanager bei ESYON

Successful Synergy: Microsoft Dynamics 365, Azure Cloud, and OXID eShop in Action

Increased Revenue

Satisfied business customers are more likely to make regular purchases from your e-commerce company, which directly leads to an increase in your revenue. By continuously providing tailored and efficient solutions that meet the specific needs of your B2B clients, you can strengthen customer loyalty and sustainably grow your earnings.

Strengthening Your Brand through Satisfied Business Customers

Satisfied business customers are the best brand ambassadors for your company. They share their positive experiences with other businesses, enhancing your company's image and attracting new clients. By offering excellent customer service, proactive communication, and high-quality, customized solutions, you can ensure that your customers consistently represent your company in a positive light.

Economic Advantages: Satisfied Business Customers Return on Their Own!

In the B2B e-commerce sector, it is more cost-effective to retain existing business customers than to acquire new ones. Satisfied customers return on their own and make repeat purchases, reducing the need for your company to invest heavily in marketing and customer acquisition. These loyal customers provide a reliable source of income and contribute to the stability and growth of your business.
By placing the satisfaction of your B2B customers at the core of your business practices, you can achieve sustainable economic benefits while strengthening your company’s image and revenue in the B2B e-commerce sector.

Rolf Primus in Interview

In conclusion, we conducted an internal interview to gain firsthand insights into how the collaboration went and what challenges were faced. Let’s get started:

Anna: Hello Rolf, could you briefly introduce yourself and the company Voltus?
Rolf: Hello Anna, of course! I have been working as a project manager at ESYON for eight years. During this time, I’ve implemented numerous B2B and B2C projects in e-commerce and integrated several PIM (Product Information Management) systems. One of my main responsibilities is working with Voltus.

Voltus is an innovative provider of smart and energy-efficient solutions for electrical installations. The company offers a wide range of products and services aimed at making modern buildings smarter and more sustainable.

Anna: Could you explain the goals of the Voltus project and how they were achieved?
Rolf: Gladly. The main goal of the project was to replace the previous online shop with a new, modern one that is also mobile-friendly. It was important for us that Voltus’ customers could place orders conveniently via mobile devices. The focus was on a quick implementation of the new system. To achieve this, we deliberately avoided extensive graphic elements to prioritize speed.

Another important aspect was ensuring the existing functionalities in payment processing and inventory management, particularly with large suppliers, as they were already in the old ePortal. Additionally, a search and filter function was implemented to allow users to quickly and efficiently search the product range, given its massive size.

Anna: What were the key challenges?
Rolf: The biggest challenge was mapping the specific customer processes. The implementation of the ePortal is only one part of the project, but Voltus’ customers have unique processes that had to be considered. Therefore, a meaningful tracking system, in the form of Google Analytics, was implemented to conduct customer behavior analysis: How do customers use the site? Where do they drop off? These analyses had to continue functioning after the shop relaunch.

Additionally, the integration with our ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics 365, was a significant challenge. It was crucial that this interface worked smoothly to ensure efficiency and accuracy in business processes.

Anna: Were there any highs and lows during the project?
Rolf: In any project implementation, there are always some highs and lows. I can’t recall a major low, though. But one of the biggest successes was the successful shop relaunch. It’s always a crucial step when everything goes live, and it feels great when everything works seamlessly.

Anna: Are you satisfied with the outcome?
Rolf: I am very satisfied with it. The system has now been running stably and efficiently for nearly 2.5 months. In the first 2-3 weeks after the relaunch, there was a hyper-care phase where smaller challenges arose that required adjustments – that can happen. We were able to find and implement quick solutions. Now, we are fully focused on the future, both in terms of design and processes as well as payment methods. We will make further optimizations in certain areas in the future.

Anna: Do you think Voltus is satisfied with the results so far?
Rolf: Absolutely: Yes!

Anna: How critical is smooth collaboration between project managers and clients for the success of e-commerce projects?
Rolf: What’s always important in such projects is, of course, having one or more competent points of contact on the client’s side. That was the case here, and it greatly contributed to moving the project forward quickly without many discussions. We consistently looked ahead and didn’t dwell too much on the past. That helps a lot and is definitely a key element. This created a great feeling that we were all pulling in the same direction and working well together.

Anna: Thank you for your time and insights.

Conclusion

The implementation of these technologies has also laid the foundation for future growth. With a scalable and flexible infrastructure, Voltus is well-equipped to seize new market opportunities and continue its success. In summary, the integration of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Azure Cloud, and OXID eShop offers significant advantages for businesses in e-commerce. Voltus serves as an excellent example of a successful implementation.
