Unified Pricing Management for E-Commerce
In a constantly changing e-commerce world, rigid pricing models are no longer sufficient. Customers expect customized offers in real time, while companies need to flexibly adapt their prices to market conditions. This is precisely where we come in: With our price calculation service for every e-commerce platform, we offer a solution that enables customized pricing quickly, efficiently, and across all platforms.
With Unified Pricing Management (UPM), Microsoft offers new pricing options in Dynamics 365. These include:
- Attribute-Based Pricing
Flexible pricing rules based on customer, product, and order attributes for precise and dynamic price adjustments. - Omnichannel Consistency
Consistent price and discount management across all sales channels, ideal for B2B companies transitioning to omnichannel. - Centralized Price Control
Elimination of pricing silos through transparent, centralized management for better control over prices and margins. - Improved Discount Management
Efficient management of short-term promotions and long-term contract discounts for consistent pricing strategies.
There is a growing need to map price calculations not only within the ERP system, but also to flexibly integrate them into connected e-commerce applications.
This is the only way to Achieve consistent pricing across all sales channels – with a high level of automation and efficiency. Price changes are maintained centrally and take effect immediately across all channels. This enables retailers to respond flexibly to market changes, implement targeted promotions, and offer personalized offers.
Challenges of Using Unified Pricing Management in E-Commerce Environments.
Unified Pricing Management is currently only available within Microsoft Dynamics 365. Its use outside the ERP system—for example, in conjunction with e-commerce platforms—is not yet readily feasible.
Companies currently have only two approaches:
1. Use of the Microsoft Cloud Scale Unit (CSU):
Unified Pricing Management can also be accessed via an API. However, this requires licensing of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce and the use of cost-intensive Commerce Scale Units (CSUs).
These requirements mean that its use outside the Microsoft ecosystem—for example, in conjunction with Shopware, Shopify, or BigCommerce—is currently hardly practical and economically unattractive.
2. Real-time Price Calculation Directly in Microsoft Dynamics 365
In principle, Unified Pricing Management can also be used via a web service, allowing price calculation to be performed directly from e-commerce applications in Microsoft Dynamics 365. However, this requires a custom extension in Dynamics 365, as this web service is not available by default.
In practice, however, this approach quickly reaches its limits – primarily due to performance reasons:
- Calculating a single price in Dynamics 365 takes a comparatively long time.
- Even a product overview page with 20 items results in 20 separate price queries.
- If the shop is used by 50 users simultaneously, this results in 1,000 simultaneous price queries.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 cannot handle this load – in the worst case, it leads to the failure of the AOS server and thus to a complete shutdown of the ERP system.
An indication of how computationally intensive the pricing logic in Dynamics 365 is, comes from Microsoft itself: In one of the last releases, a An additional button has been introduced that allows the price calculation to be triggered specifically in the sales order – rather than automatically with each item creation. This demonstrates that calculating a price requires a very high level of computing power, even within Dynamics 365.
Our Solution: Unified Pricing Management in E-Commerce
Our answer to these challenges is called Unified Pricing Management (UPM). ESYON offers a SaaS service that makes the complete pricing logic from Microsoft Dynamics 365 available for e-commerce applications – flexible, high-performance, and independent of the shop system used.

The solution consists of providing a pricing service in the cloud. The relevant pricing information from Microsoft Dynamics 365 is transferred to the service at regular intervals.
The price calculation itself is fully aligned with the Unified Pricing Management logic within Dynamics 365 – with the advantage of taking place outside the ERP system.
Thanks to optimized calculation processes and targeted caching, price determination is extremely fast. Automatic scaling allows the service to operate reliably even under maximum load – even for large e-commerce platforms with high data and user volumes.
Why a SaaS Solution for Pricing?
A SaaS solution offers companies decisive advantages: By shifting the pricing logic to the cloud, no local installations are necessary. Updates and new features are deployed automatically, so you always stay up to date. At the same time, you benefit from high availability and scalable performance. New requirements can be implemented quickly without putting a strain on your internal IT structure.
A SaaS solution is ideal, especially for companies that operate internationally or maintain highly dynamic pricing structures. You can respond flexibly to market changes and quickly test and implement new pricing strategies – all without compromising on speed or security.
Individual Prices Don't Have to Be a Performance Killer
With our solution, you benefit from fast price calculation – even for complex models. With UPM you get:
- Real-time dynamics: Immediate price updates based on customer profiles, order quantities, or regional conditions.
- Individual adaptability:Different prices per customer, product category, or region.
- Maximum performance:Reduces the load on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and your online store.
- Platform independence:Compatible with all modern e-commerce platforms.
- Simple API integration:Fast and uncomplicated connection to your existing infrastructure.
- Optimal complement to Microsoft Dynamics 365:Utilize the benefits of your existing ERP system without compromising on speed.
Conclusion: Future-proof Pricing with Maximum Flexibility
In a dynamic retail world, speed determines success. With our Unified Pricing Management, we offer you a powerful service that makes your pricing strategy flexible, scalable, and efficient. Our solution unlocks its full potential, especially in conjunction with Microsoft Dynamics 365: You optimize your processes, increase your store's performance, and offer your customers an optimal shopping experience.
